Creating & managing a custom SG lobby
Host your own game: choose the map, change the rules, and invite your players.
On this page
01Create your lobby
- In the hub, right-click Game Selector.
- Click Create Lobby.
- Wait while your private lobby is prepared. You will be transferred automatically when it is ready.
- In your lobby, right-click Custom Settings to open the host controls. You can also reopen this menu with
/custom menu.
02Choose your map and rules
Open Custom Map and click the map you want to play. Select Clear Forced Map to return to lobby voting.
The settings menu lets you adjust:
- Minimum Players / Maximum Players: Set the lobby's player requirements.
- Countdown / Grace Period: Adjust the opening of the match.
- Chest Refill: Set when managed chests refill.
- Deathmatch Time / DM Threshold / DM Duration: Configure the final stage.
- Team Size / Friendly Fire: Configure team play and teammate damage.
- Hunger / Late Join: Toggle hunger drain and late joining.
- No-Weapon Spawn / No-Weapon Radius: Configure weapons in chests near spawn.
For number settings, left-click to increase and right-click to decrease. Shift-click uses a larger increment. Click toggle settings to change their state.
Configure your map and match rules while the game is still in the lobby.
03Choose who can join
Click Lobby Access to switch between:
- Public: Your lobby is listed under Public Matches in the hub.
- Private: Players need an invitation or a private join code.
To invite a specific player, use /custom invite <player>. They can join with the ACCEPT button in their invitation.
To share a code, set the lobby to Private and click Private Join Code. Your eight-character code appears in chat and is valid for 30 minutes.
04Join someone else's lobby
For a public lobby, open Game Selector → Public Matches in the hub and select the lobby.
For a private lobby:
- Get a join code from the host.
- Open Game Selector → Enter Private Code.
- When prompted, enter the eight-character code in chat.
- You will be connected if the code is valid and the lobby is accepting players.
Enter your code only while the prompt is active. Type cancel to stop. If the prompt has expired, select Enter Private Code again.
05Play or spectate as the host
Click Host Mode to choose Playing Tribute if you want to compete, or Game Master if you want to oversee the match as a spectator.
Choose your role before starting the match.
06Start your match
Once your players and settings are ready, click Start Match in Custom Settings. The countdown begins when the match's starting requirements are met.
If the match does not start, check the message shown in chat and review your player count and map selection.
07Remove players or close the lobby
Use /custom kick <player> to remove a player from your lobby.
When you are finished hosting, select Close Lobby and confirm with Close Custom Lobby. This closes the session and returns its players to the hub.
The Close button only exits the settings menu. Use Go Back on the confirmation screen if you want to keep the lobby open.
